Hello readers! I have some very exciting news to share with all of you... in just ONE MONTH I will be attending an event to celebrate the launch of Our Rogue Fates, an incredible Romantasy novel by my friend Sarah Glenn Marsh. I will be there as a guest in conversation with Sarah as we celebrate the launch of one of my favorite Romantasy books.
This event is being hosted on May 1st at 7pm cst by The Little Book bookstore in Des Moines, IA, where they are also currently running a Pre-Order campaign with Sarah! What am I reading right now? Beyond the Story by BTS and Kang Myeong-seok.
I am a big fan of BTS, in fact they're one of my favorite groups and have consistently been in my Spotify top 5 artists since I first got into them in 2017, so it's a bit surprising that I haven't already read this book. However, when it first came out it was quite expensive and then it sort of slipped my mind. With their recent comeback and incredible new album, they've been fresh on my mind and this book came up in my Spotify recommendations, so I decided it was finally time to read it (or, more accurately, listen to the audiobook). To be honest, there isn't a whole lot of information that I didn't know or am learning for the first time, but this is only because I'm chronically online and was aware of much of the content and discourse when this book was first released. Despite that, I am really enjoying hearing about their early days through their own words. BTS came from nothing, a small company with no money, and their determination, bond, and complete dedication to their music helped to skyrocket them into the mega artists they are today. But it wasn't overnight, BTS debuted in 2013 and spent several years fighting tooth and nail just to be taken seriously in the industry. Even if you aren't a fan of their music, or haven't really listened to them, reading this book is fascinating because it sheds a lot of light on Korean culture as well as the idol music industry.
