What am I reading right now? Sisters in the Wind by Angelline Boulley.
Angelline Boulley is one of my favorite authors, and I was so excited to pick up this third book of hers'. What I love most about her works is the thrill and excitement that the mystery offers, and the voices of her characters. Daunis from The Firekeeper's Daughter, Perry from Warrior Girl Unearthed, and now Lucy from Sisters in the Wind all feel so real to me, their voices are so strong and distinct. I also appreciate the threads that connect these stories even though they aren't direct sequels, they exist in the same universe and share characters that have become beloved. I only just started reading Sisters in the Wind, but a book that ends chapter 1 with an explosion, literally, is one that is very difficult to put down!
